This morning we’ll meet you at your overnight accommodation and then we’ll set off towards Wales. It won’t be long before we cross over the Welsh border as we travel to the north coast and our first stop of the day, the medieval harbour of Conwy. The town is dominated by its magnificent castle and fortifications which were built by King Edward I in the 13th century. Take ample time to visit the castle, walk the town walls and explore the ancient cobbled streets. Then its just a short journey into the heart of Snowdonia National Park, and we’ll stop in the town of Llanberis, which sits in the shadow of Wales’ highest mountain, Snowdon. Whilst here, explore the Lake, Dolbadarn Castle and the tiny cottages of this once bustling slate mining community. Next, we’ll climb the highest road pass in Wales where we’ll have the opportunity to absorb spectacular views of the summit of Snowdon. We’ll continue through the National Park, passing the imposing Harlech castle, before we take a stop at the traditional seaside settlement of Barmouth. Enjoy the vast sandy beach and panoramic mountain views across towards Ireland. Our final pause of the day will be at Corris, where we can indulge on locally produced Welsh products including Whiksy and Gin. By late afteroon we’ll arrive at our overnight location, Aberystwyth, known as the ‘Welsh-speaking capital of Wales’ and we’ll drop you off at your chosen accommodation. The evening is free to explore this seaside town and have dinner.

Day Three

South-West Wales & Cardiff

This morning we’ll depart Aberystwyth and travel south, staying close to the coastline as we head towards our first stop, New Quay, a tranquil fishing community clustered around a sandy harbour. From the sea walls it’s common to see dolphins playing in the shallow waters…

This morning we’ll depart Aberystwyth and travel south, staying close to the coastline as we head towards our first stop, New Quay, a tranquil fishing community clustered around a sandy harbour. From the sea walls it’s common to see dolphins playing in the shallow waters. Here there are also numerous links to Dylan Thomas; Wales’ most famous 20th century poet. Continuing south through the Presili hills we enter arguably the prettiest county in Wales, Pembrokeshire, and we’ll stop in one of the nations most photogenic towns, Tenby. Here there’ll be plenty of time to have lunch and admire the multi-coloured houses clustered around the harbour and the sandy beaches which stretch for miles in all directions. This afternoon we’ll turn east and travel towards our final stop, Cardiff Bay, the political and cultural centre of Wales’ capital city. These docklands of this former coal port have been significantly regenerated over the past 20 years, and are now home to the Welsh Parliament, the Millennium centre, the BBC studios of Doctor Who and a tiny white church in which author Roald Dahl was christened. There will be time to wander around and explore this vibrant area. Now it’s time to cross over one of the huge Severn bridges back into England and travel back towards London. We’ll arrive back at the Mercure Kensington Hotel by the evening where our adventure concludes.
