Our Brighton & South Downs tour begins by travelling out of London and heading southwards. Before we reach the coast we’ll journey into South Downs National Park. This is Britain’s newest National Park, founded in 2010, and here we’ll make our first stop of the day at Devil’s Dyke. This is a spectacular chalk valley set in beautiful countryside scenery. Legend suggests that the valley was carved out by the Devil in order to flood the area.
After a quick pause we’ll make the short journey to the south coast and we’ll arrive at one of Britain’s most iconic coastal landmarks; Seven Sisters. These stunning cliffs compromise a sequence of seven chalk hills that look out onto the English Channel. Whilst here we’ll take time to explore the seven sisters, enjoy photo opportunities and take a bracing walk along the coastal path to absorb spectacular views.
Next we’ll hug the coastline as we travel towards the main stop of the day, the cosmopolitan seaside city of Brighton. This is one of Britain’s most dynamic destinations, known for its seafront location, vibrant culture and historic sites. Take a walk along the beach and onto the famous pier; home to many amenities and attractions. Explore the city centre and ‘The Lanes’; a series of quirky narrow streets that are home to great shopping and eateries. Visit the iconic Royal Pavillion; an exotic Palace that was the coastal residence of King George IV. There’s much to see and do in Brighton and we’ll have the entire afternoon to have some lunch and explore.
Our Brighton & South Downs tour returns to the Mercure Kensington Hotel by approximately 6pm.
