This morning we’ll meet at your accommodation and then set off into the Devon countryside. We’ll travel towards Cornwall’s rugged North Atlantic coast, and our first stop of the day will be the charming seaside community of Boscastle. Upon arrival, take a stroll out to the rocky headlands and experience the breath-taking coastal views. Next, we’ll travel along the Atlantic towards our next stop, the quintessential harbour town of Padstow. Navigate the narrow streets to find the picturesque harbour; a bustling centre of activity. Padstow is linked with the famous seafood chef Rick Stein, so this is the perfect place to grab some lunch, perhaps a freshly baked Cornish pasty! Now its time to head to the very edge of Britain, and it’s most westerly point, Land’s End. The weather here can be wild, but on a clear day it’s possible to see as far as the Scilly Isles, 50km away. Take time to wander around this iconic location and purchase a souvenir. Just a few minutes around the coast is Porthcurno, home to a stunning sandy cove with blue lagoon-like waters. We’ll stop above the cove to visit the truly unique Minack Theatre, an open-air theatre perched atop the cliffs. Commanding magnificent views, this is one of Cornwall’s most photographed spots. Next we’ll journey past Penzance to the shoreline of Mount’s Bay and we’ll pause to see the iconic site of St Michael’s Mount, a historic monastery built on an island. By late afternoon we’ll arrive at our overnight location, Falmouth, a lovely town located on Cornwall’s south coast.

Day Three

South Cornwall & Dartmoor

This morning we’ll depart Falmouth and travel along Cornwall’s southern coast to our first stop, Charlestown, a port town that remains largely unchanged since its construction in the 18th century. The dock is home to a number sailing ships and is now a popular filming location…

This morning we’ll depart Falmouth and travel along Cornwall’s southern coast to our first stop, Charlestown, a port town that remains largely unchanged since its construction in the 18th century. The dock is home to a number sailing ships and is now a popular filming location, especially the TV show Poldark. Further along the coast lies our next stop, the small coastal town of Looe. This picturesque settlement is a working port and has a reputation for its catches of high quality fresh fish. Then we’ll cross over the border from Cornwall back into Devon and into our next destination, Plymouth. We’ll head towards the historic Barbican quayside and the historic Mayflower steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers first set sail for America in 1620. Stroll across to the hoe for magnificent ocean views and have some lunch. Next, its a short journey up onto Dartmoor National Park, a beautiful area of unspoilt wilderness. These lands have many legends and are inhabited by wild ponies, sheep and cattle that graze the open landscape. Walk across one of the ancient clapper bridges, see the cathedral-like church in the tiny moorland village of Widdecombe and savour the breath-taking views from Haytor rocks. Now its time to travel back through south-west England towards London. We’ll arrive back at the Mercure Kensington Hotel by the evening and here our adventure concludes.
